A small building needs someone to call when a hinge sags, a lock sticks, a wall needs patching or the radiator valve will not close. New York Paint & Hardware is a family-owned shop on 1st Avenue, and our licensed, insured crew of painters and handymen has worked in Yorkville, Carnegie Hill and Lenox Hill buildings for 25 years. We are not a live-in super. We are the dependable crew that handles the work, so you have one number to call.

Why a Hardware Store?

The parts are on our shelves

Hinges, locks, valves, washers and paint are a few steps away, so repairs do not stall on a supply run.

Store pricing on materials

You pay what the shop charges, with no mark-up for the crew picking it up.

Building Care FAQ

Are you the super of my building?

No. We are not a live-in super and we do not replace one. We are a licensed, insured crew from a hardware store, here to handle the repairs, upkeep and on-call fixes a small building needs, alongside your super or where there is none.

What kinds of buildings do you work with?

Small walk-ups and multi-unit buildings on the Upper East Side, Yorkville, Carnegie Hill and Lenox Hill, plus condos and co-ops that want a dependable crew for smaller jobs. We also take on individual apartments and homes.

How much does it cost?

Work is billed at $80 an hour with a 2-hour minimum, and materials are extra at store pricing. Retainer plans are quoted to your building, so call 212-249-1614 or send the form and we will give you a written quote.

Do you offer emergency or after-hours service?

Call 212-249-1614 and we will tell you the soonest we can be there. We do not promise 24-hour response.

Can you help with insurance and paperwork?

Yes. We are a licensed contractor and carry insurance, and we can send a certificate of insurance for your building or board on request.

Where do I get parts and supplies?

From our shop at 1668 1st Ave. Parts and materials are already on our shelves, so repairs do not wait on a hardware run, and you pay store pricing.
