How much does knife sharpening cost?
Knife sharpening is $20 per knife, $17 each for 3 or more and $15 each for 5 or more, applied automatically in your cart. You can buy it online above and add one for each knife. How do you sharpen the knives?
Each blade is inspected under magnification first, then ground on a water-cooled belt at a set angle and honed. Keeping the steel cool matters — a dry wheel run hot can draw the temper out of a good knife and ruin it. Every finished edge is tested on paper before it goes back to you.
How long does knife sharpening take?
Turnaround is 3 to 5 business days, sometimes sooner. Drop off Monday and they are usually ready by Friday. Drop off Tuesday and they are usually ready the following Monday. That is the same whether you drop off in store or order online.
What happens after I buy online?
Your order tells us how many knives to sharpen. If you chose delivery, we collect your knives from you and bring them back. If you are dropping them off, bring them to 1668 1st Ave. Turnaround is 3 to 5 business days, sometimes sooner, and we will let you know when your order is ready.
Do I need to call or fill out the form after I order?
No. If you ordered online there is nothing else to send. The form is for scissors, shears, specialty blades and special requests.
Do you deliver on weekends?
No. We do not deliver on Saturday or Sunday, so delivery days are Monday through Friday. Drop-off in store follows our store hours.
Do you sharpen scissors and shears?
Yes — kitchen shears, sewing and fabric scissors, and garden shears are all welcome alongside your knives.
Do you sharpen serrated or specialty knives?
Bring them by and we'll take a look. We handle a wide range of kitchen and chef's knives; for serrated and specialty edges we'll tell you honestly whether we can restore the edge before we begin.
Do you sharpen garden tools?
We do — pruners, loppers and other garden cutting tools can be sharpened along with your kitchen blades.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment needed — just stop in during store hours. If you have a large set or a special request, use the form above and we'll plan ahead for you.
