New York Paint & Hardware is a family-owned shop on 1st Avenue serving the Upper East Side since 1986, and our handymen and painters have been working in Yorkville, Carnegie Hill and Lenox Hill apartments for 25 years. One call covers the repair and the repaint, and we buy materials at store pricing so jobs never wait on a hardware run.
Handyman & Painting Pricing
$80 an hour, 2-hour minimum ($160). The minimum covers getting to you, setting up and the work, so a 45-minute job and a 2-hour job both start at $160. Past 2 hours we bill by the hour, add-ons are priced on top, and materials are extra at store pricing. Prices below are estimates; every job gets a written quote first, and quotes are free. Where do you work?

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are a licensed contractor and carry insurance, and we can send a certificate of insurance for your building on request.
How much does a handyman job cost?
Labor is $80 an hour with a 2-hour minimum, so most small jobs start at $160. Painting a room starts at $560. Materials are extra at store pricing. The prices above are estimates, and every job gets a written quote before work starts.
Why is there a 2-hour minimum?
Getting to your apartment, setting up and cleaning up take the same time whether the job is small or large. The minimum covers that, so a quick fix and a two-hour job both start at $160.
Can you handle several small jobs in one visit?
Yes, that is the most common request. Put the whole list in the form and we plan one visit.
